Grace Sai
Founder & CEO
Grace is Malaysian and a Singapore Permanent Resident. She has studied and worked in Singapore for 7 years before coming to Indonesia.
Her career background spans across consulting and operations in the private sector. In 2008, she made the biggest decision in her life to switch to the social sector. Founding Books for Hope is both a professional and personal dream for her. In Indonesia, she hopes to bring to the neglected children the most basic form of a future – an education that starts with reading and knowing more.
In the social sector, she is an active researcher and writer on issues of education, non-profits, social entrepreneurship, organizations and CSR, and ASEAN. She participated in the 6th Annual Conference of Doing Good and Doing Well, organized be IESE, Spain and Net Impact, in Barcelona, February 2009. She is also a candidate at the 47th Geneva Graduate Study Programme at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva. She is a member of social entrepreneur communities such as Social Edge (Skoll Foundation), Net Impact, and the Third Sector (UK).
In 2006, she graduated from the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a Second Upper Class Honors in Business. She was also an ASEAN Scholar and speaks 7 languages. She will be pursuing her MBA focusing on Social Entrepreneurship at the Said Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
Lydia Martun
Chief Operating Officer
Lydia contributes greatly to the educational enrichment of Books for Hope’s children. Having a passion for education and languages, she develops advanced pedagogy methods in instilling interest among children to read and learn. She speaks several languages including Chinese Mandarin as she has spent a year in Beijing learning it. Her multi-lingual ability has brought benefits to our programs.
She graduated with Cum Laude from the top university in Indonesia in Industrial Engineering. Being in the top percentage of graduates, she received a scholarship to pursue her Masters in the same university. She then graduated once again with Cum Laude and now holds a Masters in Finance. She currently works for the Development Bank of Singapore.
Herwan Ng
Chief Financial Officer
Herwan has an illustrious 14-year experience in finance, accounting, auditing and taxation. He is the Head of Finance for Rio Tinto Indonesia, where he oversees all strategic financial functions. He is also the member of the Executive Committee in the organization. Rio Tinto is the world’s third largest mining company. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Indonesia and the Netherlands leading teams in a wide variety of engagements including financial assurance services, acquisition advisory services and due diligence reviews. His work has brought him to 4 continents of North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Herwan holds multiple qualifications including the CPA (Indonesia), CMA (Australia), CIA (USA), CTP (USA), and PMP (USA). He graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) from Tarumanagara University and is currently pursuing an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
In Books for Hope, he aims to apply his experience and professionalism from the profit sector to the non-profit sector – implementing equitable and transparent reporting and governance systems in our organization.
Inti Utami Permata Sari
Chief People Officer
Inti has recently moved back to Indonesia from having spent 6 years in Canada. In 2006, she joined Sampoerna Foundation, one of Indonesia’s largest professional non-profit organizations, as the Program Officer for the National and Overseas Graduate Scholarship Program. During her employment, she was able to develop prospective scholars and sent them to world’s leading businesss schools such as The Wharton School, MIT Sloan School of Management, INSEAD and others. Recently, Inti was given new responsibilities to manage the Donors Scholarship Program. It is her joy to see local scholars reach for their dreams and make a difference in Indonesia.
As Books for Hope’s Chief People Officer, Inti is responsible for recruiting our teacher volunteers and field teams for our village libraries and plays an important role in strategic human resources management. In addition, she is also focused on structuring Books for Hope’s strategic plans.
Inti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Psychology from the University of Toronto, Canada.
Lenny Tjioe
Chief Marketing Officer
Lenny is an Account Manager managing multinational computer manufacturers in Microsoft. She has worked in the IT industry for 6 years and has established relationships with leading IT companies in Indonesia. Her previous employment was with IBM. She brings this network to Books for Hope in our efforts to build computer laboratories in schools.
Having been responsible for creating marketing strategies and designing marketing partnership programs in the private sector, such as in introducing low cost solutions to small businesses and in bringing computers and educational software to school children, she is contributing to Books for Hope as our Chief Marketing Officer.
Lenny holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Boston University, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
Catur PW
Chief Technical Officer
Catur PW is a professional Online Branding Specialist and website developer. He specializes in keyword optimization and online media communities and is dedicated to developing online strategic business. His experiences of more than 6 years included developing and maintaining a well-known marketing consultant firm’s website in Indonesia.
He is now focusing on “online personal branding” , and he has several e-stores.
